Dr. David Müller

I'm an applied mathematician with strong background in Big Data, Data Science, Ml, Finance and Economics. My research mainly covers topics and techniques from convex and nonsmooth optimization, convex analysis , online optimization and discrete choice theory. I'm author of the book Mathematical Foundations of Big Data Analytics, published at Springer, which is based on a graduate level course we created. This book covers main techniques from the field of Big Data, such as ranking, neural networks or recommender systems, and motivates their benefits by solving problems from economics and finance. One of the main aspects during my recent position is hence to study new Big Data techniques as well as Machine Learning algorithms and thinking of possible improvements as well as new applications for them.
